MEMBERSHIP FEE - A one-time fee of $75 (or $95 to add hard copy mailings of Journal of the SID) is charged to attend any of the technical programs (Symposium, Business Conference, Investors Conference, Short Courses, Display Technology Seminars, or Applications Tutorials). This fee is waived for current SID members whose membership is paid through May 2008 or later. Payment of the fee automatically enrolls the registrant as a SID member for a 12-month period. Please remember that the membership fee paid at the 2007 Symposium in Long Beach will have lapsed by the date of the 2008 Symposium in Los Angeles. The Student membership fees are $5 (or $25 to add hard copy mailings of Journal of SID). Membership fees are non refundable.

SYMPOSIUM - The Symposium is held on Tuesday through Friday, May 20-23. It consists of 73 sessions of invited and contributed papers with 290 oral presentations and 260 poster presentations. Each paper has been subject to a peer review before being included in its designated technology session. The fee for the symposium is $400 ($35 for full-time Students or Life Members). A copy of the Symposium Digest and a CD-ROM is included in the fee.

3-D CINEMA - SID is very pleased to present an afternoon of invited presentations on Wednesday, May 21, 2008 by speakers working at the cutting edge of the resurgent 3D cinema industry. The talks in this 3D Cinema Special Session will span the full pipeline of the 3D movie process, from content creation (animation and live action), to editing and post production, to stereoscopic theatrical display. Real D will provide stereoscopic projection equipment and viewing glasses for all audience members, enabling the speakers to show illustrative clips from their bodies of work-including U2 3D, Beowulf, Meet the Robinsons, Monster House, Chicken Little, and The Polar Express. See how the characteristics of 3D display technologies shape every aspect of the movie creation process. The cost of attending this session is included in the Symposium registration fee. For anyone not attending the Symposium the cost to register for this Special Session is $100.

DISPLAY APPLICATIONS - There is only one way to get a comprehensive look at everything you need to know in order to design and integrate a display into your product. And that is by attending the one-day Display Applications Special Session to be presented as part of Display Week 2008 on Thursday, May 22, 2008 at the Los Angeles Convention Center. From the basics of how to select an appropriate display for your product, to in-depth analysis of individual display technologies, to the chance to network with leading display innovators, the Display Applications Special Session offers everything you need to know in order to specify and design a display for your product. Speakers have been invited based on their expertise and will convey practical knowledge in their respective areas that can be put to immediate use in specific display applications. The cost of attending this session is included in the Symposium registration fee. For anyone not attending the Symposium the cost to register for this Special Session is $175.

Exhibit-only registration does not require a current SID membership.

EXHIBITOR FORUM - Here, exhibitors give 15-minute presentations describing their technologies and products in a symposium-like setting, offering attendees a more complete picture of what is being exhibited. The presentations are organized by subject and will be presented on a predetermined schedule.

EVENING PANEL - On Tuesday evening, May 20, 2008, from 8:00 to 10:00 pm, a stimulating and controversial Evening Panel on "AMLCD World Domination: Does Anything Stand in the Way?" will take place at the Wilshire Grand Hotel in Los Angeles, California. Arguments against AMLCD world domination include the need for better energy efficiency than is achieved in today's power-hungry AMLCDs; the need to reduce cost by eliminating the multi-billion-dollar AMLCD fabs; and the need to reduce image blur and latency even more than has been possible with AMLCDs. Our panel experts on AMLCDs, PDPs, OLEDs, projection, and plastic reflective displays will discuss the prospects for the survival of their respective technologies.
